Thank you so much for stopping by! Nix Essentials was started out of a sincere need to obtain quality gluten free products without added fragrance or other unneeded ingredients. We are a family business that emphasizes the importance of natural beauty. Nix was created with careful thought, tons of research, and a lot of love. We wanted our products to provide confidence in our users while allowing them to be at ease with their beauty routine.
I am hoping this quick introduction to who I am will give answers to why Nix Essentials is so dear to our heart. I guess you could say I am the “why” Nix was created. It all started in 2014, when my life changed forever, not only did I give birth to my third child but also woke up a dormant beast that lived within me called Lupus. The disease was accompanied with an onset of other conditions including: Photodermatitis, Fibromyalgia, IBS, anxiety, & more. I also learned my additional chronic pain was caused by Joint Hypermobility Syndrome (also referred to as Ehlers Danlos Syndrome by some). These chronic conditions forced me to change the way I view beauty.
Many things in my life had to be altered as my health issues progressed including my beauty routine. I had to make conscious decisions about what I was exposing myself to forgoing the new trendy make-up in search of quality natural products. I began to have sensitivities to many ingredients and fragrances. The number one component needing to avoid being gluten. Thus, I started my search for affordable- quality- gluten free products.
After hours of searching and jumping from site to site I always ended up frustrated and tired. I was overwhelmed with the amount of beauty products on the market and underwhelmed with the availability of natural gluten free products that did NOT have added fragrance. When I would finally choose a product (that was usually ridiculously expensive) I would often be disappointed in its performance and would have to start the discouraging search again.
I began to realize that not only are many beauty products full of harmful ingredients but many of them are hard to use. Having chronic pain causes many easy everyday actions to be painful and time consuming. Maneuvering beauty containers can cause a lot of frustrations as in: opening, closing, getting product out, ecterta. Not to mention the Oh, so many steps to skin care!
Our company aims to Nix out as many complications as we can. We created our line out of sincere love and need. Each product is carefully chosen and tested for months before it is released. As a team we thoughtfully choose each container for our products that have the most favorable usability for our consumers. An example of the considerations we make are no squeezing or lifting heavy bottles. Nix is not only about skin care, we want to help others who experience chronic pain/ illness have access to beauty products without worrying about what is in them or how to use it.
My world was turned upside down when I began my Lupus & EDS journey. For me, it was a slow progression that took over, through all the test, diagnosis, and getting on the proper medicines the last thing I thought of was “beauty.” I needed simplicity and quality, that is exactly what Nix Essentials offers.
I am so proud of what we created as a family. It was so important to us to find solutions for other warriors that nixed out all the unneeded ingredients and left the essentials. We are not only about skin care but also value the community of spoonies that fight every single day. I know how hard it is to get up and try everyday knowing all the same health issues will still be there. Chronic illness will not go away, though we aim to manage it. This is my small way of trying to make it more effortless.
